Mapuche (speaks)
I want to tell you that our Mapuche People have problems in our land. The government have taken our leaders away and put them in jail. What crime have they committed? All they have done is to defend, our land that we have owned and lived on for thousands of years, from all the greedy people who want to exterminate our forests; destroy our environment and use our rivers. Here is the wife of our Lonko Jose Llanca, and she will express her feelings to you. (Wife sings Mapuche song )
This short video clip shows Grupo Los Andes, other performing groups, and the audience, all combining to sing a popular Maori song to celebrate Matariki, the indigenous New Year.
