HISTORY OF GRUPO LOS ANDES
Los Andes was founded in Palmerston North in October of 1992 by Rolando Olmedo from Chile and Carlos Verastegui from Peru.
In the first five years they produced more than 200 performances around the country.
In 1997 Rolando moved to Wellington and with Toni Carson continued Los Andes.
They performed in community organizations, cafes, restaurants, theatres, festivals, etc
In 1999, Flamenco Guitarrist Mika joined Los Andes
From November of 1999 many other people came to rehearsal and to practice Spanish and learn new Latin American songs. Since then the group has grown to what it is today.
